![]() ![]() except corpses! Due to a miscommunication with his contractor, Merasmus forgot to build his evil carnival on top of an ancient burial ground. Misfortune telling! Dangerous rides! The world's biggest test-your-strength strongman machine! Merasmus's Carnival of Carnage has it all. Similar to all past Halloween maps, there are pumpkin bombs and spells spawning on various locations on the map such as to Helltower, although the spells look like glowing crystal balls this time around with the respective color scheme of the normal and rare spells located on Helltower. These Curses are Underwater (all players swim about the entire map in a pool of Jarate w/o the drowning capability and can swim anywhere including all the way up to the top of the skybox all water weapon rules still apply), Big Head (all players heads are filled with helium, leading to the ability to jump higher and float slowly down, ironically though players will have a deeper voice), and No Guns (all players are limited to melee weapons and have the rare Shrinking Spell applied to them, without the infinite jump bonus). At the beginning of the round, Merasmus will request that you collect the tickets so that you can buy entry to The World's Largest Strongman Machine while simultaneously working to kill the other team in an attempt to appease the bloody desires of Bonzo, the evil Sumerian circus god! If you play to the next round, Merasmus will make more comments at you saying that you're stupid for falling for the trap, but he "promises" that he won't do it again.ĭuring the initial battle for the briefcase of tickets, Merasmus may summon all players to The World's Largest Strongman Machine and put one of three temporary Curses on all players. Similar in play to Doomsday, the objective is carry a briefcase full of tickets to The World's Largest Strongman Machine on the opposite side of the map and insert it into the spectral lock at the top, all while Merasmus makes snarky comments at you. This allows players to play on the old Halloween maps before the next Scream Fortress update is out.Carnival of Carnage is a Valve-made Special Delivery map, released as part of the Scream Fortress 2014 update on October 29, 2014. The first six events released seven haunted maps (five developed by Valve), but the next four events released 12 Community maps and one Valve map.įrom 2019 onwards, Valve has activated Halloween mode on the first of October, with the update arriving later that month. However, from the 8th annual event onward, no update pages or comics were published. ![]() From the beginning, Halloween events have been linked with continuations of the Team Fortress 2 Storyline, with the release of Zephaniah Mann's last will and testament and family portrait and the coupling of the Halloween comics with closely released main Storyline comics, notably the murders of Blutarch and Redmond and the crossovers of Merasmus. Valve treated the first seven Halloween events as "major updates", each with an update page on the official Team Fortress website and a Comic of some form. Most of the individual Halloween Updates introduced new features to the Halloween event celebration, whether new maps, monsters, or mechanics, like magic spells or the Soul Gargoyle. The first Holiday-restricted Halloween events each opened with a Major Update content patch a shortly before October 30 and concluded 10 or so days later with removal of Halloween cosmetic effects. After the patch, annual Halloween Cosmetic and War Paint Cases drop while players are given a several week-long campaign to level up their Gargoyles and complete contracts to earn Halloween Packages. Later, a content patch is added with activation of Halloween Contracts and Soul Gargoyles. On the first day of October, the game activates several features, including the Halloween main menu background and class images, Halloween mode, a selection of past Halloween maps on the Casual Mode menu, and soul collection on all maps. First introduced in the The Terrifying Team Fortress Haunted Hallowe'en Special of 2009, Halloween events now feature activation of Halloween-themed start screens, spooky sound cues, Halloween cosmetics, haunted Halloween maps, soul-harvesting contract campaigns, Ghosts, and monsters, with Scream Fortress Patches adding new Halloween content. The Halloween event, also known as Scream Fortress, is an annual event for the month of October and several days into November, a time when enchantments, hauntings, and family curses fall upon the world-wide facilities of Mann Co. Terrorizing RED and BLU alike, the Horseless Headless Horsemann was the first Team Fortress 2 Boss monster introduced in a Halloween event. ![]()
